Abstract

Puruṣa is the unchanging and uncaused universal principle. It is a metaphysical concept of Yoga philosophy. In yoga the term puruṣa references to the self or ātman. It is one of the two ultimate realities accepted in Yoga philosophy. It has a major role in the cosmic evolution. Similarly in Āyurveda also the concept of puruṣa has been discussed. But Āyurveda has shown some more aspects of puruṣa. So in this paper an attempt has been made to discuss the similarities and dissimilarities in between these two regarding the concept of puruṣa.
